" Jesse wants to get married in a field."
Not long after I heard this from my lovely bride-to-be daughter, the young couple called and asked if they could get married at Foxcroft.
" YES! YES! YES!"
The couple made their choice of field (Daisy Pasture), and voilĂ , a wedding.
Just kidding! They had to do some planning first. They did a beautiful job designing the entire shindig. It was personal and sentimental, romantic and delicious, and really, really fun.
This blog entry is about sharing some of the photos, but the photos are one of the extra-special parts of the wedding. The couple selected some of their most talented friends and family to not only come to the wedding, but be integral to the day. The photographer was one of these friends, one of our Ohio Family who came into our lives as a babysitter for the little Drost children, and we never let her leave us! She now is an excellent photographer with a great eye, and graciously recorded the wedding with her cameras.
Not just talented ones, we also have the most generous friends and family, and they showed up with willing hands, for the days before the wedding to get the production just right! There were poop picker-uppers (we do have real horses, making real piles in these real fields!), tent decorators, driveway sweepers (with the guest house under construction there is mess), horse grooming, legions of other tasks, and a certain grandmother brought all the flowers for the wedding, (yes it is Yummie-my mom) most from her own gardens- and willing hands to help create all the centerpieces, bouquets, etc.
When I say the betrothed couple's family showed up, I mean they SHOWED! They came from 12 states and three time zones.
The lucky couple have all 8 grandparents, and all 8 were there, with 60+ years of marriage each for all 4 couples. Using my mother's counting method for marriage, all 8 grandparents have been married at least 60 years. That is 480 years of marriage in the grandparents alone.
Impressive.
Also impressive? The flowers.

Pearl. Self-assigned greeter of all humans is in heaven with all the "peopling". But a nap break is vital.

Friday evening we had a rehearsal at Foxcroft, and then the groom's family treated us to a lovely meal at Tavern & Grocery in Charlottesville.
Wedding morning was relaxed and quite fun, with the morning room becoming a dressing room!
Mid morning, more friend/talent showed up in the form of Youngest's girlfriend, C., and her sister C.C.- armed with powerful makeup and hair skills!
They took over the prepping of the bride. Lovely canvas on which to work!

Meanwhile, KZ Photography caught me catching a breeze on the front porch of Foxcroft. If a house can smile, this one is doing so. |

The groom and the groomsmen. I got to walk down the aisle on the arm of the-biased opinion- most handsome Young(est) groomsman! So, this is another favorite photo. As you can see, this blog has a favorites overload! |
